Step by step How do I check my motor plug colour?
How to check which motor plug colour your fatbike has
All you need is a pair of wire cutters and it takes a minute. The colour is on the inside of the motor plug, so you'll need to pull it apart. That's fine: it won't damage the plug.
-
Go to the rear wheel
Put your fatbike on its stand. The motor is in the rear wheel, and one thick cable comes out of it: the motor cable.
-
Follow the motor cable to the plug
The motor cable runs along the frame to the first plug. It's usually held in place with two cable ties. Cut the first one.
-
Cut the second cable tie too
Now the plug hangs free and you can get a good grip on it.
-
Hold the plug on both sides
Hold it by the thick plug housings, not by the thin wires.
-
Pull the plug firmly apart
It's a tight fit, so don't be afraid to pull hard. The plug won't break.
-
Look at the inside
Where the pins stick out you'll see the colour: red or black. That's your motor plug colour.
This controller only fits if the inside of your fatbike's motor plug is this colour. Not sure? You can check it in 1 minute.

Finally a riding C80 again.
Tucked away neatly in the frame.
Fitting took me about half an hour. Would do it again.
Product information
The benefits at a glance
- Restricted to 25 km/h
- 6 km/h throttle
- Original part
- Suitable for: Ouxi C80 with a red motor cable
- Version: 6A, 250W, red motor plug, 5 cables with alarm connection
- Speed: limited to 25 km/h, throttle up to 6 km/h, not tunable
Original limited controller for the Ouxi C80 with a red motor plug. It works together with the limited HC80 display, with or without NFC, and puts the C80 back at the standard 25 km/h after a defect.
Tuning is not what this part is for; for that there is the tunable V8/C80 controller with a red plug. Mind the version: the C80 Pro and the C80 Mini each have their own controller, and a black motor plug does not fit this red version. Replacing means transferring five plugs under the saddle.
The controller drives your fatbike's motor and is usually hidden inside the frame or under a cover. Before you unscrew anything, take a photo of the connections, so you'll know later exactly which connector goes where. With this version, pay attention to the red main connector so everything fits neatly again. Can't manage it yourself or in doubt? Feel free to message us on WhatsApp at +31 6 82090642, and we'll help you out quickly.
Pro tip: place the old and new controller side by side and compare the connectors one by one before you connect anything.

Difference between restricted and tunable: it is in the software, not in the number of amps.
