De 20×4 inch banden van een fatbike absorberen oneffenheden waar een gewone e-bike op stuitert. Klinkers, drempels, boomwortels en putdeksels voel je nauwelijks. Doordat fatbike-banden op lage druk worden gereden (rond de 1,0-1,4 bar) heb je effectief een natuurlijke demping ingebouwd, zonder dat je een dure verende voorvork nodig hebt. Heb je een rijbewijs nodig voor een fatbike?
Nee. Voor het rijden op een fatbike is geen rijbewijs nodig. Fatbikes vallen onder de regelgeving van normale e-bikes (250W motor en trapondersteuning). Hierdoor geldt er geen rijbewijs- of helmplicht.

Is a fatbike still legal?
Yes, a fatbike that complies with current regulations (max. 25 km/h pedal assist and a 250W motor) is fully legal on public roads. Tuned models may only be used on private property.

Do you need a driver’s license for a fatbike?
You don’t need a driver’s license for a regular fatbike with pedal assist up to 25 km/h. You do for tuned models above that limit. Keep in mind those are only allowed on private property.

Can I tune my QMWheel V20 Cross?
Yes. With the tunable controller with the red motor plug (500W) your V20 Cross goes up to 45 km/h instead of 25 km/h. The plugs fit the original wiring exactly, so you can install it yourself. Riding tuned is only allowed on private property.
How fast does a tuned V20 Cross go?
With the tunable controller the V20 Cross reaches up to 45 km/h. As standard it is restricted to 25 km/h pedal assist. Riding above 25 km/h is only allowed on private property, not on public roads.
How fast does the Ouxi GT2000 go when tuned?
Tuned, the GT2000 reaches up to 60 km/h, both on the throttle and on the pedal assist. Restricted, it does 6 km/h on the throttle and 25 km/h on the pedal assist. The tuned mode is intended for private property. This applies to the GT2000 and the GT2000 2.0.
What does the kill switch on the GT2000 do?
With the kill switch you switch between tuned and restricted riding yourself. Tuned, the throttle goes up to 60 km/h. Restricted, the throttle goes up to 6 km/h and pedal assist up to 25 km/h, so you ride legally on public roads. It comes as standard with the Tunable version, so there is nothing extra to order. Riding tuned is only allowed on private property.
What does tuning a fatbike cost?
A tunable controller costs from 98 euro for the V20 family and the Ouxi models, and 179 euro for the GT2000 and GT2000 2.0. Fitting it yourself usually takes less than half an hour. Not sure which part fits your fatbike?
Can I tune an Ouxi C80 Mini or QMWheel V20 Mini?
No. The Ouxi C80 Mini, C63 Mini and the QMWheel V20 Mini cannot be tuned. There is no tunable controller or tunable display for these models; they stay restricted to 25 km/h. Do you want to tune after all? Then have a look at the Ouxi C80, V8 or GT2000 and the QMWheel V20 or V20 Pro.
