Step by step How do I check my motor plug colour?
How to check which motor plug colour your fatbike has
All you need is a pair of wire cutters and it takes a minute. The colour is on the inside of the motor plug, so you'll need to pull it apart. That's fine: it won't damage the plug.
-
Go to the rear wheel
Put your fatbike on its stand. The motor is in the rear wheel, and one thick cable comes out of it: the motor cable.
-
Follow the motor cable to the plug
The motor cable runs along the frame to the first plug. It's usually held in place with two cable ties. Cut the first one.
-
Cut the second cable tie too
Now the plug hangs free and you can get a good grip on it.
-
Hold the plug on both sides
Hold it by the thick plug housings, not by the thin wires.
-
Pull the plug firmly apart
It's a tight fit, so don't be afraid to pull hard. The plug won't break.
-
Look at the inside
Where the pins stick out you'll see the colour: red or black. That's your motor plug colour.
This controller only fits if the inside of your fatbike's motor plug is this colour. Not sure? You can check it in 1 minute.

Customer Reviews
Another happy fatbiker here.
Fits my V20 Mini exactly. The packaging was a bit battered. Better than I expected.
Just good, no fuss.
Been in there for a while now. Fine shop.
Product information
The benefits at a glance
- Restricted to 25 km/h
- 6 km/h throttle
- Original part
- Suitable for: QMWheel V20 Mini (all versions) with black motor cable
- Version: 13A, black motor plug, five connection cables
- Speed: limited to 25 km/h, throttle up to 6 km/h; the V20 Mini cannot be tuned
There is only one controller for the V20 Mini and this is it: 13A, black motor plug, matched to the V20 Mini display. It replaces a faulty or burnt-out controller and keeps the bike at the legal 25 km/h.
Looking for a tunable controller for the Mini? There isn't one, the V20 Mini cannot be tuned. Controllers from the full-size V20 or the V20 Pro don't fit either, the plugs and the amperage are different. Swapping works like on any QMWheel: remove the saddle, swap five plugs.
The controller is the brain of your fatbike and drives the motor. When replacing it, it's important to plug each connector back into the right spot, so before you start, take a photo of how everything is connected. Make sure the battery is disconnected before you work on the wiring. Can't manage it yourself or in doubt? Feel free to message us on WhatsApp at +31 6 82090642, and we'll help you out quickly.
Pro tip: transfer the connectors one by one from the old controller to the new one, so you can be sure you don't connect anything wrong.

Please note: the QMWheel V20 Mini is not tunable. This controller is a one-to-one replacement and keeps the bike restricted to 25 km/h.
This controller is intended for the QMWheel V20 Mini with a black plug. Before you order, check that the plug type and the connections match your own controller. Not sure whether it fits? Message us on WhatsApp at 06 82090642 and we will take a look with you.

Difference between restricted and tunable: it is in the software, not in the number of amps.
