Step by step How do I check my motor plug colour?

How to check which motor plug colour your fatbike has

All you need is a pair of wire cutters and it takes a minute. The colour is on the inside of the motor plug, so you'll need to pull it apart. That's fine: it won't damage the plug.

    Go to the rear wheel

    Put your fatbike on its stand. The motor is in the rear wheel, and one thick cable comes out of it: the motor cable.

    Follow the motor cable to the plug

    The motor cable runs along the frame to the first plug. It's usually held in place with two cable ties. Cut the first one.

    Cut the second cable tie too

    Now the plug hangs free and you can get a good grip on it.

    Hold the plug on both sides

    Hold it by the thick plug housings, not by the thin wires.

    Pull the plug firmly apart

    It's a tight fit, so don't be afraid to pull hard. The plug won't break.

    Look at the inside

    Where the pins stick out you'll see the colour: red or black. That's your motor plug colour.

Done? Push the plug firmly back together (the pins only fit one way) and, if you like, put a new cable tie around it.

The Ouxi GT20 Pro - Tunable Controller is the separate controller for the Ouxi GT20 Pro, the 20-inch fatbike with front and rear suspension. It drives the motor, has a red motor plug and 5 connections without alarm. You use it to replace a faulty controller, or to let the GT20 Pro ride up to 50 km/h on private property.

Which bike is this controller for?

The Ouxi GT20 Pro rides on 20-inch wheels and has a removable 48V / 15Ah / 720Wh battery. It charges fully in about 4 hours and is good for a range of up to 65 km. Where the GT20 only has a suspension fork, the GT20 Pro has front and rear suspension. It is suitable for 2 people and has hydraulic disc brakes and Shimano 7 gears.

Check two things before you order:

  • Plug colour: the cable to the motor has a red plug. With a different colour this controller will not work.
  • Connections: your current controller has 5 cables and no alarm connection.

The controller is the link between battery, motor, display and throttle. It decides how much power the motor gets and up to which speed the motor assists.

Riding tuned is only allowed on private or enclosed property; on the public road a maximum of 25 km/h pedal assist applies.

Fitting: replacing the controller yourself

Replacing a controller is not a big job: you disconnect 5 cables and connect them again. This is how you do it:

  • Battery out: remove the battery from the bike before you disconnect any cables.
  • Take a photo: photograph how the plugs are connected now.
  • Old controller off: disconnect the cables one by one.
  • New controller on: connect each cable in the same place.
  • Test: put the battery back and check the display, motor and throttle.
