For the red motor plug Wrong colour? Then the plug won't fit.
Step by step How do I check my motor plug colour?

How to check which motor plug colour your fatbike has

All you need is a pair of wire cutters and it takes a minute. The colour is on the inside of the motor plug, so you'll need to pull it apart. That's fine: it won't damage the plug.

1 minute Just wire cutters No experience needed
  1. Fatbike on its stand, with the motor in the rear wheel

    Go to the rear wheel

Put your fatbike on its stand. The motor is in the rear wheel, and one thick cable comes out of it: the motor cable.

  2. Cutting the cable tie around a fatbike's motor cable with wire cutters

Follow the motor cable to the plug

The motor cable runs along the frame to the first plug. It's usually held in place with two cable ties. Cut the first one.

  3. Cutting the second cable tie at the motor plug

Cut the second cable tie too

Now the plug hangs free and you can get a good grip on it.

  4. Holding a fatbike's motor plug by hand

Hold the plug on both sides

Hold it by the thick plug housings, not by the thin wires.

  5. A fatbike's motor plug pulled apart, with the pins visible

    Pull the plug firmly apart

It's a tight fit, so don't be afraid to pull hard. The plug won't break.

  6. Red inside of a fatbike motor plug with pins

    Look at the inside

Where the pins stick out you'll see the colour: red or black. That's your motor plug colour.

Done? Push the plug firmly back together (the pins only fit one way) and, if you like, put a new cable tie around it.
For the red motor plug

This controller only fits if the inside of your fatbike's motor plug is this colour. Not sure? You can check it in 1 minute.

Product information

The benefits at a glance

  • Tunable up to 45 km/h
  • Restricted: 6 km/h throttle
  • 5 cables, no alarm
  • Suitable for: QMWheel S20 Pro with red motor cable
  • Version: 21A, 500W, red motor plug, five connections
  • Speed: up to 45 km/h tuned on private terrain, factory limited to 25 km/h

The S20 Pro is the city version of the V20 family and has the same 500W motor with red plug. With this controller plus a tunable H6C display with killswitch your S20 Pro goes up to 45 km/h; via the killswitch you switch it back to 25 km/h in an instant.

This part is only intended for an S20 Pro with red motor plug; if your plug is black, this is the wrong controller. Fitting consists of removing the saddle and moving five plugs over. Riding tuned is only allowed on closed-off terrain.

Good to know

Fitting a new controller on your QMWheel S20 Pro is actually very simple: there are only 5 cables you need to connect. Still not working out? Just message us on WhatsApp at 06 82090642 and we will help you out quickly.

Pro tip: take the saddle off the bike first, that way you can easily reach the controller to replace it.

WhatsApp chat only. We can't take calls, not even via WhatsApp.

Please note

Important: this controller is intended for the QMWheel S20 Pro and only works in combination with a red motor cable. Do you have a different fatbike model? Then you need a controller that matches it. On our site you will find the right controller for your model.

Software

Difference between restricted and tunable: it is in the software, not in the number of amps.

QMWheel S20 Pro tunable controller: up to 45 km/h on private property

The controller is the brain of your QMWheel S20 Pro. It drives the motor and decides how much assistance you get. This version has a red motor plug and delivers 500W. It is supplied restricted and is tunable up to 45 km/h.

You order this controller from FatbikeKlaar.nl; the same part can also be ordered through FatbikeKlaar.be for Belgium and through FatbikeKlaar.com in English.

Which bike is this controller for?

This controller is intended for the QMWheel S20 Pro. That is the fatbike with 20 inch wheels, a 48V / 18Ah / 864Wh battery and dual rear suspension. The controller only works in combination with a red motor cable. So first check the plug between the motor and the controller. If it is black, this controller will not fit.

Did you order the S20 Pro in the Tunable version? Then this controller is already included. You order it separately to replace a faulty or damaged controller, or if you want to tune a restricted S20 Pro later.

What the controller does

Specifications

  • Motor plug: red.
  • Power: 500W.
  • Connections: 5 cables, no alarm.
  • Supplied: restricted, with a throttle up to 6 km/h as walk assist.
  • Speed: tunable up to 45 km/h.

Restricted or tuned

In restricted mode the S20 Pro is an electric bike with pedal assist up to 25 km/h. You then do not need a driving licence, number plate or helmet. If you switch the bike to tuned mode, those rules no longer apply and it does not belong on the public road.

Tuning: what is possible and what is allowed

For 45 km/h you also need the tunable H6C display in addition to this controller. You activate the higher speed with a tuning code. Using the kill switch on that display, you switch back to 25 km/h. Separate tuning parts are in the tuning kits. You can read the step-by-step guide in Tuning the QMWheel V20, V20 Pro or S20. Riding tuned is only allowed on private or enclosed property; on public roads a maximum of 25 km/h pedal assist applies.

Fitting it yourself

Replacing a controller is less difficult than it sounds. This is how you go about it:

  • Switch the bike off before you start.
  • Remove the saddle from the bike, so you can easily reach the controller.
  • Take a photo of the old connections before you disconnect anything.
  • Connect the 5 cables to the new controller one by one.
  • Then test the bike in restricted mode first.

Still not working out? Message us on WhatsApp at 06 82090642 and we will help you further.

Warranty, delivery and service

Parts from FatbikeKlaar come with a manufacturer's warranty. If you run into a problem, we will help you further. Order in the Netherlands before 23:59 and you will have the controller at home tomorrow. Delivery to Belgium and Germany is also possible. Not sure whether the part matches your old controller? Then compare the plug colour and the number of connections before ordering.

Matching parts for the S20 Pro

  • Display: the tunable H6C display above, needed for 45 km/h and the kill switch.
  • Battery: note the specifications 48V / 18Ah / 864Wh and then look at the batteries.
  • Charger: you can find a charger for a 48V battery among the chargers.
  • Other parts: controllers, displays and other parts for the QMWheel family are in V20 Parts.
