A separate battery for the QMWheel V20 Cross. This 48-volt battery has a capacity of 22Ah, 1056Wh in total. With it, the V20 Cross rides up to 70 km, depending on assist level, weight and surface.

The battery can be charged in two ways:

In the bike: leave the battery in the frame and connect the charger to the bike. The display shows how full the battery is.

Separate from the bike: unlock the battery with the key and take it inside to charge. This helps the battery last as long as possible. Do not charge in a cold or very hot room.

Do not leave the charger on the saddle while charging, as it can get warm.

Comes with two matching keys.

Good to know

You can easily swap the V20 Cross battery yourself: unlock the old battery with the key, slide it out of the frame and put the new one in until it clicks firmly into place. Then turn the lock closed again. Fully charge the battery before first use; an empty battery is full again in about 6 hours.

V20 Cross battery 48V 22Ah: 1056 Wh for tarmac, sand and gravel

This battery keeps the QMWheel V20 Cross on the move. It is a removable battery of 48 volts and 22 Ah, 1056 Wh in total. It replaces a battery that gives less range, or serves as a spare for a long ride on unpaved paths.

Which bike is this battery for?

This battery belongs to the QMWheel V20 Cross. That is the bike with 17-inch cross and skinny tyres, 70 mm wide, and a 250W motor. From the factory, the V20 Cross has a 48V / 22Ah / 1056Wh battery. This battery has exactly those values. Do you ride a different QMWheel model? Then first look at the battery that belongs to that model. Capacity, connector and lock differ per bike.

What the battery does

Capacity and range

  • Voltage: 48 volts.
  • Capacity: 22 Ah.
  • Energy: 1056 Wh.
  • Range: up to 70 km on one full charge.
  • Charging time: about 6 hours.
  • Removable: yes, you can also charge it separately from the bike.

On sand and gravel, pedalling takes more energy than on tarmac. Expect a shorter distance there. A high assist level, cold and low tyre pressure also reduce the range.

Speed and the law

A full battery changes nothing about the speed. The restricted V20 Cross assists up to 25 km/h, with an old or a new battery. Riding tuned is only allowed on private or enclosed property; on public roads, pedal assist is restricted to a maximum of 25 km/h.

Removable and charging

You have two ways to charge:

  • In the bike: the battery stays in the frame and you connect the charger directly. The display shows the battery level.
  • Indoors: you take the battery out of the frame with the key and charge it at home. That is handy if the bike is kept in a shed or on the street.

Do not charge below 0 degrees or in full sun. The charger can get warm, so do not put it on the saddle or on a cushion. A second charger is available among the chargers; do check that the plug fits.

Fitting: swapping the battery

Swapping is quick and needs no tools:

  • Lock open: put the key in the lock and turn it.
  • Old battery out: carefully slide it out of the frame.
  • New battery in: slide it in until you hear a click.
  • Lock closed: turn the key back and take it with you.

Two keys are included. After delivery, charge the battery fully before you ride.

Maintenance and lifespan

After a ride through sand or mud, maintenance is extra important:

  • Wipe dust and sand off the battery and the contacts.
  • Never clean the battery with a pressure washer.
  • Do not leave it standing empty for weeks.
  • Store it indoors in winter.

This keeps the capacity up for longer.

Is this battery the same as the one that came in the bike?

Yes, the values are the same: 48V, 22Ah and 1056 Wh. If in doubt, check the rating label on your current battery.

How far can I get on sand and gravel?

In favourable conditions, you get up to 70 km. On sand and gravel it is less, because the motor has to work harder. How much less depends on the surface and your assist level.

Can I charge the battery indoors?

Yes. The battery is removable. Take it out of the frame with the key and charge it indoors, at room temperature. Dry the contacts before you put it back.

Will a new battery make me faster?

No. A battery gives range, not speed. On public roads, pedal assist stays restricted to 25 km/h.
